정윤진 ( younjin.jeong@gmail.com ) 요즘 Claude Code를 쓰면서 느끼는 부분이 있다. 이 녀석이 정말 잘하긴 하는데, 작업을 하나 걸어놓고 나면 결국 터미널 앞에 붙어 앉아서 결과를 기다려야 한다는 점이다. 뭐 해보신 분들에게는 당연한 이야기겠지만, Claude Code가 뭔가 물어보기라도 하면 그때마다 화면을 들여다보고 있어야 하고, 특히 긴 작업의 경우엔 중간중간 토큰이 얼마나 쓰였는지, 지금 뭘 하고 있는지 확인하려면 터미널을 떠날 수가 없다. 여기에 머신이 여러 대가 되면 이야기가 더 복잡해진다. 회사 데스크탑에서 하나, 집에 있는 서버에서 하나, 가끔은 클라우드 위의 인스턴스에서도 Claude Code 세션을 돌리는데, 이걸 각각 SSH 붙어서 확인하다 보면 대체 내가 AI를 쓰는 건지 AI가 나를 쓰는 건지 모를 지경이 된다.

Anyone who's used it knows the drill — Claude Code asks you a question, you have to be there staring at the screen. I'm building a database. Four days in, as of now. This is the kind of work you don't usually do — or even think about doing. When I mentioned it, a data engineer said "that sounds fun." Honestly, it's beyond fun — the amount I'm learning is enormous. The starting point of this project was actually a bit unexpected. I'd been using Claude Code recently and realized that the quality of code generation has improved quite significantly.

최근 AI 사용이 열풍이다. 본 블로그 역시 99% AI의 도움을 받아 만들어졌다. Cursor 에 Claude Code 를 함께 사용하는 방식으로 사용한다. Max 수준의 서비스 사용은 Claude 가 유일하며 나머지는 무료나 기본 플랜을 사용중이다. ChatGPT 기본, Cursor 기본, Claude Max 이렇게 사용하는데, GPT는 보통 문서나 언어와 관련된 영역에서 4o 를 사용하고, Cursor 와 Claude 는 IDE 안에서 수정에 대한 의견을 서로 다르게 제시할때 유의미하게 사용한다. 대부분의 사용자가 경험하듯, AI 는 아무것도 없는 상태에서는 사용자의 입력이 자세할수록 50~80% 수준으로, 때로는 마음에 딱 들게 주어진 문제를 해결한다.

연휴 이틀 동안 반나절 정도 시간을 들여, Hugo 기본 레이아웃을 폴아웃 Pip-Boy 스타일로 재구성해봤다. 작업 도중 여러 시행착오가 있었지만, 그 중 가장 대표적인 난관은 폰트 사이즈 문제였다. 아직 완전히 해결되지는 않은 것 같지만, 어느 정도 원하는 형태를 잡아낸 듯하다. 무언가를 직접 구현해보는 과정은 잊고 있던 것들을 다시 깨닫게 해주는 좋은 기회다. 특히 이번에 Cursor IDE를 마음껏 활용해보면서, 엔지니어에게 이런 도구들이 얼마나 도움이 될 수 있는지, 그리고 지나치게 의존하면 어떤 문제가 발생할 수 있는지 확실히 알게 되었다.
